New Moon Ritual (January 2025)

Greetings dear Friends!

The New Moon holds significant spiritual importance, serving as a potent symbol of new beginnings, renewal, and the unfolding of potential. This lunar phase is the optimal time for introspection, reflection, and setting intentions. As the moon wanes to invisibility, in Wicca we believe that it represents the dark, fertile space in which new ideas and desires can take root.

The New Moon embodies the Goddess in her maiden aspect, symbolizing youth, creativity, and purity.

The New Moon is associated with menstruations: a new cycle, getting rid of what no longer serves you. The Divine Feminine energy associated with the New Moon is quiet, reflective, thoughtful, sensitive and sexual.

My current New Moon ritual (December 2024)

• 1 green candle

• 1 white candle

• 1 golden candle

• cinnamon oil

• crystals of your choice: selenite, labradorite, moonstone

• 1 branch of eucalyptus

1/ On the altar, place the crystals and the eucalyptus. Align the candles in a straight horizontal line.

2/ Rub the candles in cinnamon oil. No need to overdo it!

3/ Breathe and clear your mind (use your own meditation technique or visualization). I like to use the eucalyptus for grounding as the scent is very soothing to me.

4/ When your mind is clear and your heart opens, light the candles while holding a crystal.

5/ Read a prayer / dedication to the New Moon, including your intentions. State them clearly. As always, I like to repeat them thrice.

I feel, think and act consciously

I am safe, The Universe is my home

Sheltered under the thick blanket of the Mily Way

I address my intentions to the Dark Faced Mother

May she hear my prayer

Under the darkest night

I humbly ask:

[your intentions x3]

Guide me towards my path

And protect me on the way

So it is and it shall be!
